TAI CHI
What is Tai Chi? In American, it is called Tai Chi. In Chinese, it is called Taiji. It means "Grand Ultimate". It is this force that generates to poles, Yin and Yang.
Tai Chi is considered an Internal and an External art for the body.
Chi is the energy that circulates within the body. Gong means work. So Qigong is the cultivation of the body's energy to increase and control its circulation.
In Chinese, Internal is Nei Dan. It means literally "Internal Elixir", a form of Qigong (Chi Gong) in which chi (the elixir) is built up in the body and spread out to the limbs. External is Wei Dan. It means External Elixir. External Qigong consists of exercises in which a practitioner will build up the chi in his/her limbs and then lead it into the center of the body for nourishment.
Tai Chi was made to calm the mind and relax the body.
If you don't keep up your temple (body), your chi could break channel and you could end up getting ill. Stress or injury can break chi as well. The only way to keep the channels flowing is by keeping the body in shape. Chi goes through the organs and to every cell of the body.
Tai Chi is soft and used to defend against the hard, and is weak and is used to defend against the strong. With Tai Chi you will learn to use your Chi, the energy within your body.
