DOUBLE TERMINATED QUARTZ CRYSTAL

DOUBLE TERMINATED
QUARTZ CRYSTAL
Double terminated crystals are naturally faceted on both ends (terminals).  These crystals don’t grow on a quartz or sandstone matrix like other crystals do.  They form free-floating in clay pockets which is why they have a termination on each end.  Since they grow like this, suspended in clay and not on a matrix, it makes them more rare than other crystals which do grow on a quartz or sandstone matrix.

Due to the double terminations on these crystals, the energy in these points goes in two directions rather than one, which makes them desireable for some types of energy work, meditation or other uses.  In comparison, when focused, single terminated crystals energy tends to flow outward in one direction, in the direction of the end point.

Sometimes double terminated crystals grow stuck to other crystal points that are attached to clusters and sometimes they come in clusters of double terminated points that form in sort of a double terminated ball in the clay pockets.

Double terminated points that are very short and stubby and have a particular glow to them have been named "Arkimer's" by the miners in Mt. Ida, after the Herkimer Diamond which they closely resemble.  Herkimer Diamonds aren't diamonds at all, but double terminated quartz crystals that form in a very hard black matrix and are found exclusively in Herkimer New York, hence the name.

*most of the descriptions on this page came from excerpts from Melody's Love is in the Earth series and several other books found on the reference books page... take a look!

Some of the references came from several other books, too many to mention, (also found on the reference pages)

Other descriptions were from the years of experience of my working with the crystals (I am beginning to think I am channeling part of this information from somewhere (I don't know how this works), as some of my thoughts and answers to your questions and to descriptions come to me in a very strong Latino accent.)  ??  hmmm

If you feel compelled to use these descriptions, please e-mail me, I am happy to share, but I like to know where my hard work is going to show up, and if you are unable to do this, please post credits.  I appreciate it.

If you don't have Melody's books yet, they are very reasonably priced and DEFINITELY worth the investment!  They are all excellent books!  A must have for any library!  I refer to them almost daily.

The best way to learn about the crystals is to meditate and experience them for yourself, I think each person will get what they need from each crystal, depending on what that particular crystal needs to communicate to you at the time.  I think the descriptions should be used as a general guide to describe the configurations to lead you in a direction, not as a hard and fast rule.  This is my opinion, however.  Happy learning!    Genn    :)
