| The following crystals are very interesting. I
didn't know what they were, the mine owner wasn't sure, he called
them simply "ivory crystals" and didn't
really know anything about the mineralogy of them. I spent
a long time searching the internet, asking people and etc... and
just a day or two before posting these crystals to the website,
while checking one of my books (about something quite off subject,
of course) I FOUND the crystal. right there. I have a book called Rockhounding Arkansas by Darcy and Mike Howard (complete reference below) and there they are! They are apparently a type of reverse phantom... a "creamy white layer of milky quartz" that formed on the OUTSIDE of clear quartz. Mike Howard, a geologist, states in this book that Art Smith*, another geologist friend of his that these were usually only found in Colorado, but they have since been found in at least two places in Arkansas. Art called them "Snow Crystals" but Mike preferred "Overcoat Quartz". I figure whatever you call them, they are beautiful. I am assuming they are relatively rare since they are only found in the two places in Arkansas. Of course, this is only an assumption on my part based on the information I have available to me. The characteristics I have found almost all of them to have is that the insides are very very water clear (you can look up through most of the bases, or if there is any mine damage or imprints, you can see through the milky coating to reveal the insides. The other thing is that they all have lots of rainbows. Both on the insides as well as on the outer layers of the faces, an iridescent sheen. |

CLEAR0D $22.00 This is a flat, tabular shaped crystal that is water clear inside and also has the iridescent sheen. It has a few imprints and a couple of small empathic areas. 2 & 3/8" long x 1.5" wide x 1" thick 3 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
This crystal is very
water clear inside with fairy frost inclusions
seen through a large self healed base. It has
"sugar" drusy, and barnacles. More of the "fish scale"
type areas on some of the main faces. 3" long x 1 & 1/8" wide x 1.25" thick 3 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
...CLEAR0C $26.00 This point is short and wide and also has a rainbow iridescence on the faces. 2 & 3/8" long x 1.5" wide x 1.25" thick 4.5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
This is a slightly empathic point
that the tip is worn down on and one of the faces is missing the
white coating due to a "cake icing" chip. It has the white
spotty areas on the faces and on this particular crystal, they look
a bit like fish scales. There is some rainbow iridescence to
some of the faces. It has some of the "sugar" drusy.
It has an imprint at the base and a rainbow.

This
is an overcoat crystal with a deep key on one side that
reveals a milky spot that appears to be a broken off end of a bridge
and another shallow key that reveals a clear inside.
There is sparkily druzy, yellowish in color.

...CLEAR 0357 $16.00 This crystal is two crystals, but it isn't a twin
or soulmate, I feel it is more a main crystal with another crystal riding
piggyback. I took a side-view picture so you could see the piggy-backer.
It is dense with frost, full of rainbows,( deep),
has "sugar druzy" with the yellow mineral in it, a small bridge
and self healed base.

This crystal has
a large channeler face, and it is shifted on
an angle. It has the "fish scale" configurations, a very large
key 2 & 7/8 " long x 1" wide x 1" thick 2.5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
This is a channeler
with an empathic area on the main face, you can
see it in the photo, the area on the left side of the face, the
shape that sort of mirrors the shape of my thumb in the white area
(that isn't white) that is a chip. The white is the "fish scale"
configuration, it is smooth on the surface, remember. This
crystal has two really deep keys, one at the base, but
the really excellent one is up , there by my thumb... excellent...
stair-stepped down, etc. really cool. Some drusy... super
water clear. 3.25" long x 1" wide x 1 & 1/8" thick 3.5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |

This is a little
tabby shaped crystal with lots of "sugar"
drusy and fish scale inclusions and excellent rainbows
in the base. 2" long x .75" wide x.5 " thick 1 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
. CLEAR 0338 $16.00 This is the top off a point, with a hazy look,
almost like etched glass. It has a tabby crystal bridging
right through the center of it. The base is completely self healed.

This is a very water
clear crystal with overcoat layers in the striations on the
sides of the crystal and a little bit in some of the etching
on the faces. The whole crystal looks empathic, but that is the
overcoat looking like dings. It is empathic in that
the point is not crisp, it is worn off just enough to be slightly rounded,
not pointy sharp. You can see that in the photo. It has one
excellent round key and one oblong key. 1.75" long x 5/8" wide x .75" thick 1 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
. CLEAR 0229 $18.00
avg. 2.25 long x .5 wide x .5 thickThis is a pair of very similar channeler points. They were in the box together and it felt as if they didn't want to be separated, so I paired them. One is an overcoat crystal with a diagonal imprint (left) and the other is water clear with very light overcoat dusting with a tall thin baby standing behind. There is a rainbow between the baby and the main point, and dense frost at the very base of this same crystal. The over coat crystal is water clear inside and has the yellowish druzy characteristic of overcoat crystals on its backside. 1.5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
|
This is a tabby
crystal with a large bridge outcropping that is really only
just the base of the crystal. The backside of the point
is a large imprint. It has a baby inner child
back there. It also has a two large keys. 2.5" long x 1.25"/1&5/8" wide x .5" thick 2 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
This is a transmitter
crystal that is very water clear. It has barnacles
on the backside. The faces are etched and
have little pockmarks. A piece of this crystal jumped off
of it (there was a large chip in the baggie the size of a half of
a shelled peanut)... and I started to kiss the chip and put it
in the tray that I put chips and dings and I got a distinct cry for
it not to be separated from the Mother crystal, so it will be coming
with the crystal. It fits back into the crystal like a perfect
puzzle piece. Pretty cool, really. The fracture line
that the piece came from, now that I look, is visible, as a very thin
white line, it may not be through shedding. 2.75" long x 1&3/8" wide x1 " thick 3 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
|
This is a Dow
point with an imprint (seen in photo bottom front).
Water clear inside. Some tiny record keepers on main
face, looks like wants to pop more. 2.25" long x 5/8" wide x .5" thick .5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
On first view, and
visually, by orientation, this crystal looks like a channeler
crystal. When you count the sides, however, the face to
the right of this main face is also a seven sided face. It
is actually a transmitter, oriented like a channeler.
The base and sides are self healed and it has
imprints. It has a very sharp knife-like edge at
the base. Water clear inside, some fairy frost. 2.75" long x 1" wide x 1" thick 2 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
|
This crystal has a
centrally located point, not quite a Merlin, one of the faces
doesn't meet. It has a large bridge running
through the base as you can see, looks like this crystal was a
double term that was split in the bottom by the large
bridge, one half of the terminated side is still intact, the other
is broken off (the front in the photo). It has a large
key, a few imprints, and another large bridge.
It has what I am calling "sugar drusy" (please remember this
is a term I made up because it looks like sugar), and
it has the bubbily/toad wart glittery texture, too. 3&5/8" long x 1" wide x1 " thick 3.75 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
...CLEAR 0221 $18.00
2.25 long x .5 wide x 3/8 thickThis is a long, thin overcoat crystal with a key on the backside which reveals a clear inside and has sparkily druzy, yellowish in color. .5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
|
This crystal's faces are heavily
etched and the left (in the photo) is pockmarked. the white you
see is all under the surface. This crystal isn't empathic.
It LOOKS like it is in the photo. There is a small
area in the face I talked about earlier that is rough, but that
seems to be from the crystal's surface beinf weak and it broke away
on its own. IT has a large key on the backside and a really
big rainbow. 3" long x1.5 " wide x1.5 " thick 5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
This channeler crystal
has a baby laying on its front, facing it (back facing out).
It has imprints, bridges and
barnacles and it is self healed. 3" long x 1.75" wide x 1 & 5/8" thick 5 oz click here to check crystal descriptions alphabetically |
