This Arkansas quartz crystal point is a clustering of many different kinds of crystals. Tabby, Artemis, Bridges, Self Healed, Lineated Sides, and Drusy. There is a white mineral on the outer surfaces, it is probably Orthoclase or Adularia.
CLUSTER – Clusters are points growing together on a matrix. Some Clusters grow on a sandstone matrix, others on all quartz, and still others may grow from a ‘seed’ of crystal (like a mass of double terminated points). Clusters are good for helping with group dynamics. Families, co-workers, anywhere a group of people might need help in getting along. They are also good for raising the vibrations in an environment and bringing light and energy into that space.
TABBY or TABULAR – Tabular or Tabby crystals are thin, flat crystals. To ‘qualify’ as a Tabby, they should be no more than half as thin as they are wide (2 to 1 ratio). For example, if a crystal is one inch wide it needs to be one-half inch thick (or less) in order to be called a Tabby. If it is two inches wide it needs to be one inch thick (or less), etc. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.
ARTEMIS – An Artemis (Candle) quartz crystal is long thin points with a 6 to 1 ratio. The term “Candle” crystals should not be confused with Candle Quartz. (Candle Quartz looks a lot like a Cathedral or Lightbrary crystal.) These long thin crystals are called “Candle” due to their shape (like a birthday candle), and “Artemis” because they resemble arrows (long and thin). (Artemis: Greek Goddess devoted to hunting and nature most usually depicted wielding a bow and arrows, with the arrow pulled back and ready to fire.) That is the type of energy Artemis crystals have. Artemis (Candle) quartz crystal helps focus energy and speed prayers to their goals (like an arrow).
BRIDGE – A Bridge is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. Bridge Crystals help to bridge between worlds. This may be the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others in the physical environment in which you now live. They are helpful in any area you might imagine needing a bridge. They can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self). They are also good for connection and perspective, bring you up out of the muck, giving you a birds-eye view of a situation. While providing connection, they also help provide boundaries. Also called Inner Child.
SELF HEALED – Self Healed crystals are crystals that have been broken from the matrix and started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. A Self Healed crystal looks like it has scales or triangular layers. Self-healing can be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self Healed points also present as crystals that were broken in half but sort of ‘glued’ back together with new growth. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine. They also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.
LINEATED SIDES – Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point. Lineated Sides can be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. If you have worked with your crystal for a while and feel ready for more information or feel a desire to go deeper, you can unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. I experience this as receiving a deeper knowing or understanding that seems to be released quietly after they are unzipped. If you drag your thumbnail down the side of a point with deep striations, you are ‘unzipping’ the crystal. To zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. This is like hanging up the phone after a conversation. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. I used to think that unzipping would be like opening a box and looking inside, revealing a few more items, and once you see them, that is all. It isn’t quite like this though. It is more like opening the box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. It is literally like peeling an onion that has infinite layers. Just remember when you finish with your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.
DRUSY – Very similar to Barnacles, Drusy (sometimes spelled Druzy) consist of very small points that are described as ‘a myriad of very closely set tiny crystals. The Drusy clusters consist of tiny crystal points in their very formation, and are encrusted on either sandstone or quartz-based matrices. The tiny crystals making up the Drusy look like sugar crystals. Drusy may be seen on a point or on clusters. I think of Drusy crystals as assisting with ideas or thought forms ready to spring forth and grow.
ADULARIA – The Adularia included in (and on) Arkansas quartz is white and also golden colored. Fun fact: the optical effect of adularescence in moonstone is typically due to Adularia. Energetically, the Adularia inclusions bring these things to the table: *tranquility, inward journeying, a stone of the Goddess, receiving inner guidance, assisting spiritually to relate to the Divine Feminine, finding one\’s highest path, emanating the inner beauty and power of the Divine Feminine, assisting in channeling healing energies, opening to inner journeys, releasing patterns which no longer serve, engendering peace and tranquility. (*Simmons, Ahsian)
ORTHOCLASE – Orthoclase is a mineral rarely found attached to quartz crystal. It is a form of feldspar and has a chalky white appearance. Paraphrasing Melody from Love is in the Earth: \”Orthoclase helps overcome tragedy and can provide assistance in the alignment of the chakras, the subtle bodies and the meridians of the physical body. It emits an energy of liveliness and pleasantness, stimulating tact, finesse, poise and refinement. Orthoclase is a ‘stone of cooperative effort’, and provides for contact with the ancient builders of Egypt and can be used to initiate insight into the ancient methods and associated wisdom. The plate like form of Orthoclase can be used to stimulate the higher psychic abilities and to encourage one’s faith in the personal intuitive capabilities. It has been used in the alignment of the spinal structure and the teeth.\” Crystals paired with this mineral will enhance the qualities listed above.
